As Thakur told, try to remove desire of "Kama" i.e. sex and "Kanchana" i.e. wealth. These are the things for which we, common man run after. Say, if you are pursuing a work and trying to get an output soon, you may ignore some mistakes. On the other hand if you put your best and complete the work with your maximum satisfaction, the chances of mistakes are less - and eventually output of that will be better.
Now to remove desires you should decreses your expectation level from outer world, but increase same from yourself. You need to control your sense organs to remove such desires, which is very hard to do. It is like controlling your taste when you love good food - you will seek to eat when you are hungry from your stomach, but not hungry from your toungh. It's finally controlling your mind and putting control valves between sense organs and brains - very very hard to progress.
So Thakur showed the way, do every work as if you are serving God and pray to God for such removal. When you pray, you are actually turning your mind in a different direction out from your desires - it's a practice to remove desire. It's not to stop your sense organs but indulging them for God.
Jai Sri Ramakrishna - Jai maa - Jai Swamiji - Jai Gurudev.

How I see Bhagaban Sri Ramakrishna
I see "God" as the ultimate perfect being - perfect in all senses. Thus God will be perfect with his works, decisions, thoughts as well as in his feelings. Whatever he does will be the best that can be done, whatever he chooses will be best in that circumstance to select and whatever way he interacts with outer environment will be the best way of communication.
Now is it possible to describe what is the best technique or ultimate perfection, without being that perfect? No. You can only try to be perfect and perfection limit is an infinite end to achieve, which nobody can describe and hence nobody can touch. So without realizing God, you can't describe God and when you touch that limit, you yourself is God - which essentially is not reachable, by definition of limit. So one can tend to be God.
Here comes the word of Swami Vivekananda - "Being and becoming ..." God and I see perfection is the refinement to proceed. So to be perfect put your best - work as worship - in each small work you do you give all your mind to it as if you are serving your God.
I see Sri Ramakrishna as a man with immense perfection - perfection limiting him to be God - Bhagaban Sri Ramakrishna. So I see Maa, Swamiji and others ... and I do think a man can also try to be God improving his perfection.
